The seminar organizer will introduce the panel as the third in a now three-year series on intertexuality, beginning with the panel on Intertextuality and Historiography in San Antonio, and continuing with one on poetic intertextuality in Philadelphia. The issues to be addressed here arise from those two earlier seminars and explore in tandem the question of the intertextual relationships between poetry and prose, and those between prose and historiography. Do different assumptions, problems, and methodologies still operate in the two fields of prose and poetry? Is historiography really a special case?
