As an intermediate Latin instructor, I have the privilege of finishing the final chapters of our program’s textbook, Eleanor Dickey’s Learn Latin from the Romans, as well as observing its efficacy as our students move into reading literature. I will discuss this textbook’s strengths (e.g., reading practice, order of instruction), weaknesses (e.g., limited vocabulary, disproportionate exercises), and strategies for supplementation.
