This presentation takes a close look at the pillars of the Women’s Classical Caucus (WCC): membership and mentorship. We discuss how these form a strong foundation to better serve our constituencies. The first part of this presentation will show how a robust knowledge about our membership allows us to build new programming, both in person and virtual. Next, we introduce the new multi-tiered mentorship program, which includes options for year-round mentorship as well as short-term and “on demand” mentorship related to topics such as aspects of the job market, publishing, and pedagogy. We show how these structures translate into activities for members throughout the year, including our awards ceremony, book club meetings, and BIPOC writing meetups as well as collaborations with other affinity groups and organizations to produce or host equity resources for our community such as publications about how to deal with harassment, how to navigate graduate school, and how to maintain a work/life balance. After the overview of WCC’s new programming, participants will get the chance to “speed date” our new programming at stations in the room focused on specific offerings by the WCC and then come back together for an overall discussion to share impressions and feedback (30 minutes for demo).
