COVID and Public Health at the 2022 Annual Meeting
With respect to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, AIA and SCS will follow all applicable public health mandates and guidelines issued by federal, state of California, and city of San Francisco government agencies from January 5-8, 2022 at the Hilton Union Square. AIA and SCS will require onsite attendees to respect all mandates and to follow all public health and guidelines issued by federal, California state, and city of San Francisco government agencies and the hotels. Attendees who refuse to follow public health mandates that are legally required at the time of the conference will not be allowed to attend the conference onsite in San Francisco.
Attendees may elect to participate virtually, as the 2022 conference is a hybrid event.
Detailed requirements for attendees as mandated by the city of San Francisco (updated 11/2821):
- All onsite attendees must show proof of vaccination at the conference registration desks. A negative COVID test may not be presented as a substitute for proof of vaccination. Acceptable forms of vaccination proof are any of the following: CDC Vaccination Card (physical card or digital image); state-issued proof of vaccination card; official immunization record from outside of the United States; a digital COVID-19 vaccine record issued by the State of California or by an approved entity (i.e. national, state, or local government). Attendees who have presented proof of vaccination will be handed their registration badge, which will show a "V" indicating that their vaccination status has been checked and approved. The badge will enable attendees to enter all meeting and event spaces, and bars, restaurants, and the fitness center at the hotel. However, please note that attendees will be required to show proof of vaccination and ID at bars, restaurants, and gyms outside the hotel in accordance with city of San Francisco rules.
- All attendees must be fully masked in indoor spaces.

International Travelers:
Information on COVID testing locations for international travelers can be found at the link below. Testing sites in San Francisco can change according to demand for testing, so please check the link regularly. Many city-run COVID testing sites are limited to San Francisco residents and workers, so good options for international travelers are urgent care healthcare providers listed at the link below. Dignity Health-GoHealth UrgentCare is currently parterning with SFO airport to offer rapid molecular and PCR tests onsite at the airport. Travelers who need a COVID test prior to flying home should ensure that receive the type of test approved by authorities at their final destination.

Public health measures that will be taken by AIA and SCS:
We will work with the hotel to implement social distancing measures in all session and event rooms and in other meeting spaces, including the registration area and in spaces in which food and beverage are served. In the registration area, we will use ropes and stanchions to manage and avoid stagnant lines. We will, as far as possible, designate some doors for ingress and others for egress in all event spaces, with prominent signage, to streamline traffic flow and avoid crowding.
