Carleton College invites applications for a one-year position in the Department of Classics beginning September 1, 2016. We are seeking an entry-level teacher/scholar with broad interests in all aspects of Classical antiquity. Ph.D. or its imminent completion is required. Responsibilities include teaching Latin and Greek at all levels, as well as courses in translation. Area of specialization is open, but we are particularly interested in candidates with teaching interests in any one of the following: ancient drama, myth, or a similarly broad literary/cultural area.
This will be a full year appointment, eligible for benefits. The teaching load is expected to be 5 courses spread over Carleton's 3 teaching terms, with probably 3-4 of the courses in intro-advanced language and 1-2 “civ” courses in translation.
