The Department of Classics at Williams College invites applications for a tenure-track position with an emphasis on Greek drama. The successful candidate will pair ambitious and imaginative scholarship with a commitment to excellent undergraduate teaching. Candidates should be prepared to teach Greek and Latin at all levels and to offer engaging courses in translation. Williams College is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity of the academic community through their research, teaching, and service. We encourage applications from members of historically under-represented groups as well as individuals who have experience with diverse student populations. Applicants are welcome in their cover letter to note any specific knowledge, skills, and abilities related to building a diverse educational environment. The successful applicant is expected to have the PhD in hand by September 1, 2018. Appointment is normally made at the beginning assistant professor level, but a more senior appointment is possible under special circumstances.
