The Department of Ancient Mediterranean Studies at the University of Missouri, Columbia invites applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor. Appointment is to begin August 1, 2018 and is eligible for renewal and promotion depending on need, funding, and performance. Ph.D. by time of appointment is required. Salary is dependent on candidate's experience and credentials.

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated teacher/scholar who is willing to work closely with undergraduates and to promote the study of classics across the campus and the region (e.g., liaison with Missouri Classical Association). Teaching responsibilities will include Latin and Greek at all levels, classical mythology, classical literature in translation, classical civilization and cross-cultural interactions.

We welcome applications from candidates whose teaching and research areas include archaeology, history, religion, and other specializations that would complement existing department strengths. Desired qualifications include experience in digital humanities, leading study abroad classes, and an interest in developing larger lecture courses and diversity intensive courses focusing on differing social groups and social inequality.

Salary Range:

$40,000 - $50,000
