The Classics program at Texas Tech University seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor of Practice for FY 2018-19.  The position entails teaching three courses per semester, managing our beginning and intermediate language sequence, and helping to build our undergraduate program.  The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in the successful management of Greek and Latin courses (including the training and mentoring of MA-level TAs).  Candidates should also have experience teaching large lecture courses, especially Ancient Sports and Mythology. The ability to lead the development and implementation of an online component for the language sequences and, eventually, for large lecture courses, is highly desirable.  Candidates should also have a demonstrated ability to design and implement an outreach program for K-12 Latin teachers.  The ideal candidate will have scholarly expertise in Greek and/or Latin lyric.

This is a 9-month, non-tenure-track, full-time position, renewable annually based on performance and department need. The teaching load would vary depending on department need, but should be a maximum of three courses per semester. The remainder of the position will be dedicated to program development and maintaining a research profile. Service to the department, college, and university is expected. PhD at the time of appointment.
