The Classics Department at the University of Dallas invites applications for an Associate Professor of Classics. U.D. is a Catholic university with a classically oriented, 20-course core program, and we seek candidates who have a strong desire to teach at such a place. We therefore welcome candidates who, although thoroughly trained in classics, could also teach in the core. The standard teaching load is 3/3.

The Associate Professor position is for a Latinist, who has a strong record of publication emphasizing especially the Latin epic tradition, but who can also teach Greek at all levels and classics in translation, as well as Latin prose composition. We are therefore looking for a skilled teacher, as well as scholar, who can help us build an M.A. program in Classics and serve as a dissertation reader in our Institute of Philosophic Studies, which awards Ph.D.'s in Literature, Philosophy, and Politics.

Applications: please send a dossier, including a cover letter, CV, and at least three references to David Sweet, Chair of Classics, 215 Carpenter Hall, University of Dallas, Irving, TX 75062. Applicants are encouraged to submit materials via email to dsweet@udallas.edu. First consideration will be given to candidates who submit their materials by November 1, 2014.
