The Department of the Classics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a non-tenure-track position at the rank of Lecturer (full-time Spring 2015 appointment only) with a target start date of January 1, 2015. The service dates for the position will be January 1 through May 15, 2015. Salary is competitive. Teaching responsibilities include three courses of which one will be an advanced undergraduate/graduate reading course in Latin and two will be lower level Classical Civilization classes in Roman archaeology and Greek and Roman tragedy, respectively. Applicants must have a PhD in Classics or in a relevant field by the starting date of the appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Preference will be given to applicants with interests in Latin literature and culture.
