The Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures at Texas Tech University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Classics (Tenure Track) to begin Fall semester 2015. Candidates must have received the Ph.D. by the time of appointment.

Candidates will have a specialization in one or more areas of Latin prose literature and a demonstrated commitment to research and publication. The ideal candidate will have a strong research interest in Roman rhetoric and will complement the existing strengths of the faculty. Teaching duties will include an M.A.-level survey of Latin Prose, graduate seminars within the candidate’s field of research as well as undergraduate language and culture courses, including Myth, Sports, and Roman Civilization . Service duties include program-building, as well as commitment to extra-curricular activities. Service to the department, college, and university is expected.

Candidates who have very strong records of scholarship supported by extramural funding and who have the proven capacity or clear potential to bring externally sponsored research to Texas Tech University are encouraged to apply.
