Duties: The Department of World Languages at the University of South Florida invites applications for a one-year position of Visiting Assistant Professor in Classics, beginning August 7, 2015. Teaching load for 2015-2016 consists of five courses: Beginning Latin I and II, Greek Civilization, Roman Civilization, and one course of the applicant's expertise.The successful applicant is expected to participate in the life of the department and to share in the responsibilities of the Classics section (e.g. recruitment of majors and other Program activities).

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in Classics, with emphasis in Greek or Latin.

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. combined with teaching experience. Applicants should have diverse teaching experience, including small language courses, mid-size liberal arts seminars, and large lecture courses. Excellence in teaching must be demonstrable through student evaluations and instructional materials. Class evaluations by peers are welcome.
