The Classics Department of Emory University invites applications for a one-year replacement position as Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics, for the academic year 2016-17 (classes begin 8/24/16). Candidates should be versatile generalists. Potential department needs include teaching Greek and Latin at all undergraduate levels, as well as innovative courses in classical civilization and ancient Mediterranean studies. Teaching load is 3/2. Candidates with teaching experience and Ph.D. preferred. Letter of application, CV, evidence of teaching effectiveness (such as sample syllabi and student evaluations), and 3 letters of recommendation should be emailed to Louise Pratt, Chair, Department of Classics, at lpratt@emory.edu. Review of applications will begin on April 30, 2016, and will continue until the position is filled. We anticipate doing interviews by Skype or telephone in mid-May.
