Qualifications:
Required: 1) PhD in Classics with experience teaching Greek Mythology as well as Greek and Roman literature and culture, in addition to lower division courses in Latin 2) proven excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level; 3) willingness to create new courses that will infuse life into the minor and broaden its appeal to a diverse community of learners. Applicants must demonstrate ability to work effectively with a diverse student population and demonstrate evidence of outstanding commitment to university teaching in an environment serving a diverse student population.

Desirable: Ability to teach lower division courses in a Romance language, preferably in Italian or French.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to and participate in the life and development of the department. The standard teaching load is 12 units per semester, although reassigned time may be available for research and/or curriculum and pedagogical development. All faculty are expected to engage in scholarship and community service and to remain current in their field. All faculty are expected to serve on departmental, college, and/or university committees and to participate in other service, as needed. The University seeks individuals who will contribute to both their chosen disciplines and the University's significant commitment to teacher preparation and general education.

At time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to work in the United States.
