The Department of Classical Studies at the University of Richmond seeks applications for a tenure-track appointment to begin in fall 2017. The position is for a specialist in Historical Linguistics. Successful candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching. Potential areas of instruction include comparative mythology, Indo-European linguistics, language contact/linguistic hegemony, ancient Greek and Latin, and ancient material culture. In particular we seek an individual who is committed to increasing the number of linguistics courses while helping shape the department and school’s curriculum and building our mission in a time of strategic planning and change. Special attention will be given to those who can also contribute to an ongoing campus-wide discussion of inclusive language pedagogy. Research specialties in interdisciplinary approaches toward ancient cultures will be most welcome. PhD must be received by August 2017 to qualify for consideration.
