Millsaps College invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure-track visiting appointment for the 2017-2018 academic year in the Department of Classical Studies. The successful candidate will teach six courses (three a semester). We seek a broadly trained generalist to teach Greek and Latin at all levels, and one or more courses in translation, including a course on gender and sexuality. The successful candidate should also demonstrate potential for scholarly excellence as well as a commitment to teaching at a liberal arts college and participating in the life of the department. Candidates with PhD in hand by the appointment (Aug. 1, 2017) are preferred, but ABDs may be considered.

Applications should include a cover letter, CV, three letters of reference, unofficial graduate transcripts, and a teaching portfolio that contains a teaching philosophy and evidence of teaching effectiveness. E-mail these materials to ClassicsSearch2017@millsaps.edu. References should send their letters to the same address separately. Review of applications will begin on April 10, 2017, and will continue until the position is filled. If you have any questions, contact David Yates (yatesdc@millsaps.edu), Chair, Department of Classical Studies.
