Monmouth College, a liberal arts college and member of the Associated Colleges of the Midwest, announces a one-year, full-time position in archaeology and Classics for the academic year 2017-2018. Teaching responsibilities, subject to enrollment, will include a variety of topical classes in archaeology, mythology, and literature (some of them half-semester, and some of them full-semester), and one half-semester seminar on the classical subject of the candidate’s choice. In addition, the successful candidate will teach a partial-credit archaeological lab course based on the Monmouth College North American Artifact Collection and serve as the director of the lab in which the collection is based. The position requires an M.A. in in either Classics or classical archaeology and evidence of teaching excellence; preference will be given to those who have either earned a Ph.D. or who are close to it, and those who have experience with both New World and classical archaeology. For fullest consideration, candidates should send a letter of application, a curriculum vitae, a graduate transcript (a copy or an unofficial version is perfectly acceptable), and contact information (including e-mail addresses) of three people who could provide letters of recommendation if asked. Send these materials, addressed to Dr. Robert Holschuh Simmons, Chair, Classics Search, Monmouth College, by e-mail to facultysearch@monmouthcollege.edu.
