Ancient History: Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia seeks candidates for a tenure-track appointment in the Department of Classics at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning September 2018. Ph.D. in hand by that date and evidence of teaching excellence are strongly preferred.
Randolph-Macon is a selective, residential liberal arts college located in the beautiful Virginia Piedmont in Ashland, Virginia, 15 miles north of Richmond and 90 miles south of Washington, DC. The successful applicant will have an understanding for a coeducational, collegial, undergraduate, liberal arts environment. The annual seven course teaching load (3-1-3) will require the ability to teach: 1. Greek and Roman History 2. Greek and/or Latin at all levels, and 3. other general education classics and/or history courses in translation. Areas of specialization are open, but the candidate must be prepared to respond to the needs of both the departmental and general education programs.
