Bard College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Classics, to begin fall 2018 (position pending approval). The successful candidate will teach Greek and Latin at all levels and courses in Roman literature and history in the original language and in translation, as well as ancient civilization seminars and general education courses. They will also contribute meaningfully to First-year Seminar, Bard’s core Humanities course (reading ancient, medieval and early modern texts) and will engage with the life of the college.
A record of successful language teaching, especially at the beginning level, is highly desirable. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or be nearing its completion.
To apply, please submit a cover letter, CV, teaching and research statements, writing sample (dissertation chapter, article draft), and three letters of recommendation, before December 15th through Interfolio.com at: http://apply.interfolio.com/47305.
