Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Teaching and Research) in Ancient History (Greek and/or Roman)

£39,992 - £60,410 per annum dependent on experience
Permanent from 1 September 2018
This position is designed to cover teaching, administration, and related duties in ancient history and cognate subjects, and to make a significant contribution to the research profile of the Department. The post-holder will be expected to contribute also to the teaching of classical languages and culture more widely.
You will have a PhD or equivalent in hand (before the interview) in Ancient History, Classics or a closely related discipline, and will be able to teach courses and conduct research in Greek and/or Roman history.
You will also show at least the beginnings of a strong, international publications record, and very clear and specific promise of its further development. You will have a similar track-record of applying for research funding and of developing collaborative projects with colleagues locally and internationally. Candidates will be expected, in their letters of application and (if shortlisted) at interview, to explain how they expect their research to develop in the future, and how their specialised interests would strengthen or complement the existing research strengths of the Department.
