University of Michigan
LSA Collegiate Fellows

Fellowship Period: September 1, 2019 – August 31, 2021
Application Deadline: Monday, October 1, 2018

The College of Literature Science and the Arts (LSA) at the University of Michigan seeks outstanding scholars in all liberal arts fields whose research/scholarship and/or teaching/mentoring and/or service/engagement will contribute to the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) goals of our institution.

The two-year fellowship provides early career natural scientists, humanists, and social scientists with dedicated research time, mentorship, teaching experience, travel funding, and professional development opportunities to prepare them for possible tenure-track appointments in LSA.

The LSA Collegiate Fellows program was launched in 2016 as a major college initiative aimed at recruiting and retaining exceptional early career scholars with demonstrated commitments to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive academic community. The program is administered by U-M’s National Center for Institutional Diversity (NCID) in conjunction with LSA academic departments.

Eligibility:

Applications are welcome from any humanities, social science, or natural science field represented in LSA academic departments. Please see website listed below for list of departments/units and other eligibility descriptions.

Appointment:

LSA Collegiate Fellows will receive a starting salary of $60,000 plus benefits. During the two-year term of appointment, the Fellow will participate in the LSA Teaching Academy during their first year, and teach one course a year in their host department. The remainder of the Fellows’ time will be devoted to pursuing research. Each Fellow will also receive career advising from faculty mentor(s) during the fellowship.
