The Department of History and Classics at Providence College invites applications from historians of ancient Rome for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2019. The contracted annual teaching load is 3/3. The successful candidate will have an active research agenda and be prepared to teach the department’s survey courses in Roman and Greek history, other courses in ancient history and culture, and Latin and Greek at undergraduate levels. Competence to teach in the College’s Development of Western Civilization program as part of the regular teaching load is required. Experience in interdisciplinary and/or team-teaching is desirable. Ph.D. in Classics or History by date of appointment is required.
