The Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures at Texas Tech University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Classical Archaeology. We seek applicants with a record of teaching, research, and publication in Roman archaeology and material culture, who will be able to teach surveys in Roman archaeology and material culture at the graduate and undergraduate levels and to complement existing faculty interests. The candidate should also be capable of teaching existing core courses in the program: such as Sports and Spectacles in the Ancient World, World of the Near East, Classical Mythology, and Prophets, Warriors, Poets. Ability to teach undergraduate Latin and/or Greek is required.

Responsibilities include an ongoing program of research and commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching. Ideal candidates will have very strong records of scholarship supported by extramural funding, which demonstrate the proven capacity or clear potential to bring externally sponsored research to Texas Tech University. Service to the department, college, and university is expected. Must have Ph.D. in hand by beginning of appointment.
