The Classics Department at Colorado College announces a one-year, non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Classics position to begin in August 2019.
Colorado College is a leading national liberal arts college with a distinctive academic calendar called the Block Plan, in which students take one course at a time. The teaching load for this position will consist of 5 courses (6 blocks), one of which will be a two-block introductory Latin course. The other courses will likely be taught in translation and be reflective of the needs of the department and the candidate’s research interests. The college supports active scholarship via travel to conferences and internal grant opportunities.
The department values both depth and breadth in the field. Applicants must be able to teach a wide range of courses across the department’s language, literature, history and cultural studies curriculum. We seek a candidate whose research interests complement those of permanent faculty; we are interested in applicants whose area of specialty is Roman History and/or Archaeology, particularly a candidate whose work relates to North Africa.

A PhD in classics or a closely-related field is required by the start of the appointment.
