Monmouth College, a selective liberal arts college, announces a one-year, part-time position in Classics for the academic year 2019-2020. Teaching responsibilities, subject to enrollment, will include teaching two full-semester courses in the fall (Latin I and Mythology: The Trojan War and Its Aftermath), one full-semester course in the spring (Latin II), and consecutive half-semester courses in the spring (Medical Terminology and Scientific Terminology). The position requires an M.A. in Classics or a related field and notable teaching experience. Preference will be given to those who have either earned a Ph.D. or who are close to it, and who can provide evidence of teaching excellence.

For fullest consideration, candidates should send a letter of application, a curriculum vitae, a graduate transcript (a copy or an unofficial version is perfectly acceptable), and contact information (including e-mail addresses) of three people who could provide letters of recommendation if asked. Send these materials, addressed to Dr. Robert Holschuh Simmons, Chair, Classics Search, Monmouth College, by e-mail to facultysearch@monmouthcollege.edu. Review of applications will begin immediately after the position is opened and will continue until position is filled, with April 23 our anticipated closing date for applications. Dr. Simmons (rsimmons@monmouthcollege.edu), Dr. Adrienne Hagen (amhagen@monmouthcollege.edu), and Dr. Alana Newman (anewman@monmouthcollege.edu) will be happy to answer questions about the position via e-mail or at the CAMWS meeting in Lincoln, NE, where they will be from April 4-6.
