Visiting Assistant Professor in Greek and Roman Studies (2 Positions - 1 Full Time, 1 Part Time)

The Vassar College Department of Greek and Roman Studies invites applications for two positions in 2020-2021 focused on Latin and/or the Roman World.

The first position is a full time Visiting Assistant Professor. The teaching assignment is three Latin courses, including the 100-level introductory sequence, a course in advanced Greek, and a course in translation. Scholarly specialty is open, but preference will be given to candidates able to teach Roman History and culture. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate success in teaching Latin and Greek to undergraduates in a liberal arts environment. Ph.D. is required.

The second position is a three course part-time visiting position over two semesters that carries full benefits and a very competitive salary. The teaching assignment consists of three courses: A course in translation at the 100 level in the Fall term and two Latin courses in the Spring (one intermediate and one advanced). Scholarly specialty is open. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate success or high potential in teaching Latin to undergraduates in a liberal arts environment. The position is open to advanced graduate students (ABD) as well as recent graduates.
