The Classics Program at Southwestern University invites applications for a full-time, two-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Classics beginning the 2020-2021 academic year. The second year of the appointment is contingent on satisfactory performance.

We seek applicants excited about working in a student-centered, undergraduate liberal-arts setting, with its focus on engaged teaching and academic research. Applicants should have teaching experience/ability in Latin, experience/ability to support Greek, and an interest in developing interdisciplinary courses. It is preferred that the PhD in Classics or a related field be completed by the time of the appointment.

The successful candidate will teach three courses each semester (as well as occasional independent studies). Courses will include introductory and intermediate Latin and interdisciplinary courses that engage with the candidate’s own areas of expertise and meet the broader curricular needs of the institution.
