The Department of History and Classics at Providence College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Classics beginning in the fall of 2021. We especially welcome applications from candidates whose scholarship explores the culture and/or literature of the Late Republican or Early Imperial Roman Eras. The ability to teach undergraduate courses on Greek and Roman history and culture, as well as all levels of Greek and Latin, is required. Competence to teach in the Development of Western Civilization program, which comprises a significant part of the regular teaching load, is also required. Experience in interdisciplinary and/or team-teaching is desirable, and candidates should have a demonstrated commitment and/or experience in working with a diverse group of students in a changing world. Ph.D. by date of appointment is required.
