The Classics Department at Colorado College announces a one-year, non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Classics position to begin in August 2021. A PhD in classical archaeology, classics, or a closely-related field is required by the start of the appointment.
We are interested in applicants whose area of specialty is classical archaeology, art, and the study of material culture. The successful candidate will primarily teach courses in Greek and Roman archaeology. This is a new position in the department and we are looking for candidates who can envision developing and designing the curriculum in these areas. The department values both depth and breadth in the field; we seek a candidate whose research interests complement those of permanent faculty.
Colorado College is a leading national liberal arts college with a distinctive academic calendar called the Block Plan, in which students take one course at a time. The teaching load for this position will consist of 6 courses, equivalent to a 3-3 semester load. The courses will be reflective of the needs of the department and the candidate’s research interests. The college supports scholarship via travel to conferences and internal grant opportunities.
