The Department of the Classics seeks applications for a Lecturer in Greek Language and Literature. An additional focus in ancient philosophy, Greek social and political history, Greek linguistics, or the reception of the classical world would be desirable. We particularly encourage applications from historically underrepresented groups, including women and minorities.

The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2021. The Lecturer will be responsible for four courses at undergraduate and/or graduate level, and may also advise and evaluate senior theses or conduct reading courses with graduate students, and contribute to the supervision of graduate research. The successful candidate joins a thriving community of scholars and students of Greco-Roman culture and its reception. Lecturers are encouraged to participate in a wide range of programming and professional development opportunities within the department, the Ancient Studies initiative, the Mahindra Humanities Center, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning. They are also eligible to receive a generous research allowance to support their research and professional development.

The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a maximum of two further years, contingent on performance, position availability, curricular need, and divisional dean authorization.
