The Department of World Languages and Cultures at Ohio Wesleyan University seeks a generalist in Classics for a one-year position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Ph.D. required. This position is approved for the 2021-2022 academic year with no guarantee of renewal. The successful candidate will teach 3 courses per semester, including first-year Latin and Classics courses in translation. Classics courses will include one lower-level and one upper-level course per semester. There may also be opportunities to offer independent studies to students interested in Latin and Classics. We seek a candidate with a commitment to the university’s DEI initiatives, which aim to diversify the faculty and student body and promote equity and inclusion in our classrooms and on campus. Candidates should be prepared to work with students in a liberal arts environment who expect close mentorship from their professors and who seek to make connections between their coursework and their own lives.
