WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY – LEXINGTON, VA
The Department of Classics at Washington and Lee University has been authorized to invite applications for a tenure-track position in Classics at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in the fall of 2012. We seek applicants with broad philological training, able and willing to teach Greek and Latin at all levels, as well as literature and culture courses in translation. We especially welcome applications from candidates whose specialties complement the current strengths of our program and whose research interests focus on areas of the Greek world including historiography, art, archaeology, religion, epigraphy, or literature from the 4th century BC and later.
Applications should include at least three letters of reference, a curriculum vitae, a graduate transcript, and a writing sample. These should be sent by November 20, 2011, to Dr. Miriam Carlisle, Department of Classics, 109 Baker Hall, Washington and Lee University, Lexington, VA 24450. Review of applications will begin on November 20, and will continue until the position is filled.
