WILLIAMS COLLEGE – WILLIAMSTOWN, MA (Two Positions)
POSITION ONE: The Department of Classics at Williams College welcomes applications for a one-year full-time visiting position in Classics for the academic year 2008-09, at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor. Applicants should be prepared to teach a variety of courses in Greek and Latin language and literature as well as in their area of specialty. While the area of specialty is open, an emphasis on late antiquity or on the material culture of classical antiquity is particularly welcome. Applications should evidence a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and should have the Ph.D. in hand by September 1, 2008; exceptionally qualified ABD's may be considered as well. POSITION TWO: The Department of Classics at Williams College invites applications for a part-time visiting position for the semester starting January 31, 2008 and ending June 30, 2008 (please note that this is the spring semester of the current academic year.) The position consists of two courses: the second semester of beginning Latin, and a Roman literature course in translation whose topic is open. The salary is $19,000.
