The Department of Classics at Williams College welcomes applications for a new tenure-eligible position in Classics and Classical Archaeology. We seek candidates with expertise in the archaeology and/or material culture of ancient Rome. An emphasis on late antiquity is particularly welcome. Candidates should be prepared to teach Latin and Greek at all levels in addition to courses in their specialty and must evidence a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching. The successful candidate is expected to have the Ph.D. in hand by September 1, 2009. Appointment is normally made at the beginning assistant professor level, although a more senior appointment is possible under special circumstances.
