New Member Benefit: SCS Member Forum

We're happy to announce the creation of the SCS Member Forum, a new benefit exclusively for SCS members. The Forum is an online tool, created to open up communication between Classicists from around the world. On it, members can organize room shares or peer-to-peer childcare at the annual meeting, participate in spoken Latin, organize project collaboration, and much more.

Two updates from the Executive Director

Dear SCS Member,

I am writing with one announcement and one reminder:

1. At the Board meeting on September 16-17, the SCS Directors approved a new policy on public statements. Please see https://classicalstudies.org/about/scs-policy-public-statements

The policy is designed to clarify both the circumstances under which the Society would issue a public statement on issues relevant to the profession and discipline and the approval process for such statements.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the Annual Meeting in Toronto. The Program Committee – Karen Bassi, Leslie Dean-Jones, Helene Foley and Paul Allen Miller – and I have worked hard to put together a stimulating and rewarding Program. We were able to organize the sessions by themes and topics because we think it will make the 2017 Meeting more satisfying. Affiliated Group Panels for 2018 CFP Deadline

Organizers of Affiliated Group Panels for the 2018 AIA/SCS meeting are invited to send in the text of their Call for Papers. As a reminder, only Category II Affiliated Groups should submit Calls for Papers.

All CFPs must be submitted to info@classicalstudies.org by October 4, 2016. The CFPs will then be published on the SCS Website and open for submissions from members.

Award Deadline Extended: Pre-Collegiate Teaching Award
