Classical Studies / Ancient History. The History Department and the Modern and Classical Languages Department at Allegheny College invite applications for an approved tenure track position in classical studies beginning fall 2002. The successful candidate will be expected to teach lower-level and upper-level courses in Roman and Greek history, language courses in Latin, and to participate in a college-wide freshmen/sophomore liberal studies program that emphasizes writing and speaking. Those able to teach an occasional course in classical philosophy are especially encouraged to apply. Teaching load at Allegheny includes three courses per semester. Allegheny College is a highly selective private liberal arts college with emphasis on teaching. Preliminary interviews will be conducted at either the American Philological Association Annual Meeting, or by video conferencing.
