BARD COLLEGE - ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY (Two Positions)
POSITION ONE: Ancient Historian. Bard College is seeking an ancient historian, or a classicist working on historical issues, for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, pending approval. We seek someone who can help expand a growing program in ancient history, and who can also contribute courses in Greek and Latin. Prefer Ph.D. in hand with some teaching experience, but ABD's will be considered. Above all candidates should show breadth of interest, ability to connect their particular specialization with other areas of Classics and with other disciplines, and commitment to the goals of a liberal-arts college. Applications, including a C.V., at least three letters of recommendation, and a writing sample of up to 30 pages, should be sent so as to reach us by December 10th. Please send materials to: Professor Mark Lytle, Chair of History Program, c/o Human Resources, Bard College, P.O. Box 5000, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY 12504. AA/EOE.

POSITION TWO: Assistant Professor of Latin Literature. Bard College is seeking an Assistant Professor of Latin Literature to fill a two-year non-renewable position. We hope to find someone to teach a full range of courses in Greek and Latin languages, to fashion courses in translation which reach out to non-Classics students, and to contribute to a First Year Seminar program which features a broadly-conceived humanities curriculum. Please send a cover letter, resume, and letters of reference, to arrive before December 10th, to: James Romm, Chair of Classics, c/o Human Resources, Bard College, P.O. Box 5000, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY 12504. AA/EOE.
