EP's Business Development department is currently seeking contract writers to create introductory reference articles on a variety of poetry related topics. Types of articles include: poet biographies; poem explications; literary period and movement overviews; thematic overviews; literary terms & techniques overviews.
The target audiences for these articles will be high school students, undergraduate and community college students, and public library patrons. Roughly 70% of topics will center on British and American poetry and poets; others will cover European, Ancient Greek and Roman, Latin American, Middle Eastern, and Asian poetry and poets. Article lengths will range between 1,000 and 3,000 words.
Basic Qualifications include: master's degree or doctorate in literature or creative writing or a
Bachelors degree with 3-4 years writing experience
Preferred Skills: broad knowledge of English language and world poetry; solid research skills; thorough knowledge of MLA style; proven ability to write clearly, concisely, and accessibly while offering a comprehensive introduction to a topic; proven ability to produce high quality work while meeting project deadlines; must be willing to learn and use EP's online content management system and, in some cases, follow an article template.
