EPISCOPAL ACADEMY – MERION, PA
The Episcopal Academy, an independent, coeducational, K-12 day school in Merion, PA expects to have as many as three open positions in Classics beginning in 2008-09 and invites expressions of interest at this time. Episcopal offers five levels of Latin and four of Greek, and successful candidates will show experience and skill in Latin and Greek and enthusiasm for teaching both languages to young people. An M.A. or other higher degree is desirable. Latin at Episcopal is required in the seventh and eighth grades and continues to the Advanced Placement level in high school; Greek is taught in four levels from ninth through twelfth grade.

The holder of one of these positions will be appointed to the Lounsbery Chair in Classics, either immediately or after one year of service. The Lounsbery Chair is expected to provide scholarly and academic leadership to a department of six classicists and to represent Classics and the department's program to the school and community. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellence in teaching, advanced fluency in both Greek and Latin, good communication skills, and broad scholarly interests. A Ph.D. in some area of Classics is desirable, but candidates with equivalent training or demonstrated scholarship will be considered.
