The University of Turku is planning to abolish the professorship in Classics and Classical Culture when the current professor Jyri Vaahtera will retire.
The cut will abolish the only professorship that incorporates Latin and Roman literature in Finland, cut one of the two professors in ancient Greek in the whole country and risk the teaching of Classical Archaeology as an official minor in Finland.
Ulla Rajala has created a petition to stop these plans at https://chng.it/9vgHDs885J.
