The Classical Studies Department at Dickinson College seeks a classicist for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professorship. The specialization is in Latin language and Literature and includes teaching Latin at all levels (and Greek if necessary). Possible courses include Mythology, Roman Civilization, and Ancient Worlds on film and the position carries a five-course teaching load. Candidates need to demonstrate a record of pedagogical excellence and be able to participate fully in an interdisciplinary, Classics curriculum in line with Dickinson’s liberal arts tradition. The ability to create inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body will be an important characteristic of the successful candidate. A willingness to participate in the department’s dynamic co-curricular and extracurricular activities is also expected and a completed Ph.D. degree by September 2018 is preferred.
