The Classics and Philosophy Department at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Classical Studies. This is a full-time, one-year, sabbatical leave replacement appointment with benefits beginning July 1, 2020.
The ideal candidate is an ancient historian who has the ability to teach Latin at the elementary and advanced levels. The six-course (3-3) teaching load includes elementary Latin, Roman history, Greek history, and one additional history course.
Candidates must have a Ph.D., and prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level is strongly preferred. Successful applicants must also demonstrate a clear understanding of and commitment to teaching excellence and innovation at a liberal arts institution.
