The Department of World Languages and Cultures at Valparaiso University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning August 2020. Preferred qualifications: ability to teach all levels of undergraduate Latin and Greek, with emphasis on the literature, history, and material culture of ancient Rome. Ability and willingness to teach in our freshman seminar CORE program also preferred. Candidates should be Ph.D./ABD, committed to excellent teaching, and show promise for scholarly activity.

Valparaiso is a selective private university 50 miles from Chicago. Candidates should be interested in working at a university engaged in issues in Christian higher education in the Lutheran tradition. Duties for this full-time position include a combination of teaching, continued scholarly activity, ongoing professional development, and service to the Department and University. Valpo's workload model allows for flexibility in how these components are balanced for each faculty member.
