The Department of Classics at Dartmouth College invites applications for a one-year position at the rank of Lecturer, to begin September 1, 2020. This is a non-tenure track, full-time position, with the possibility of renewal for a second year depending on the staffing needs of the department. Responsibilities will include the teaching of either five or six courses over three ten-week academic quarters running from September to November, January to early March, and mid-March to mid-June. The two courses for the spring quarter will be part of our foreign study program in Greece and will require living and traveling abroad. The position comes with competitive salary and benefits.
Candidates for this position should be specialists in any aspect of ancient Greek or Roman civilization, preferably with Ph.D. in hand, who are also prepared to teach courses in Classical archaeology and history as well as lower-level Latin courses. In evaluating applications, we look for evidence of an active research program together with proven excellence in a range of teaching assignments.
