The Department of Classics at Florida State University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the level of assistant professor. We seek a broadly trained classicist specializing in Greek poetry; candidates working in epic, drama, and/or reception are especially welcome to apply. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to both research excellence and engaged teaching to multiple constituencies. This is a tenure-earning position that will begin in August 2022. Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Salary is competitive. The 2/2 teaching assignment normally includes both undergraduate- and graduate-level teaching with at least one large undergraduate course with broad appeal to non-majors.
