The Department of Philosophy and Classics at the University of Texas at San Antonio is hiring for a 3-year non-tenure-track appointment (with the possibility of renewal) at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction. The teaching load is 4/4 and begins in August 2022. We are seeking applicants who specialize in Ancient Greek language, culture and history with the ability to teach Ancient Greek and Latin at all levels. In addition to language instruction, teaching duties for Fall 2022 may include undergraduate courses in Classical Mythology, Antiquity on Film, or the Latin and Greek Roots of Scientific Terms. Courses taught in future terms will be determined in consultation with Classics faculty, based on the candidate's area of specialization. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated excellence in teaching, particularly for diverse, first-generation, and non-traditional students, who make up much of the student body at UTSA, a tier 1 Hispanic-serving institution (HSI).
