The Department of Classics at Davidson College invites applications for a one-year position at the Visiting Assistant Professor level with a start date of July 1, 2024. Completion or imminent completion of the Ph.D. in archaeology, classics, or a closely related field is required, and undergraduate teaching experience is preferred. The department is seeking a candidate with a specialization in the material culture of the ancient Greek or Roman worlds, broadly defined. We value interest and experience in inclusive pedagogy. The teaching assignment will consist of two courses in art and archaeology, the two-course sequence in introductory Latin, and one first-year writing course on a topic of the instructor’s choice.
