The Department of Classical Studies at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure track instructional position that will begin August 10, 2025.
We seek an individual with expertise in ancient Greek and Latin literature, with an ability to teach ancient Greek and Latin in the original languages at all undergraduate levels and to offer courses on ancient culture and literature in translation. The successful applicant will be expected to be an effective teacher and will have a [3-3] teaching load. The successful applicant will further possess the ability to contribute to CLST post-baccalaureate program, and to teach other lecture and seminar-style courses, and to contribute to COLL curriculum.
Required: A Master’s degree in Greek, Latin, Classical Philology, Classical Studies, or Classics is required.
Preferred: A Ph.D. or ABD in Greek, Latin, Classical Philology, Classical Studies, or Classics is preferred at the time appointment begins (August 10, 2025). Previous teaching experience is preferred.
