The Section of Classics of the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Western Washington University seeks applicants for two non-tenure-track instructor (lecturer) positions for the 2025-26 academic year (September 16, 2025-June 15, 2026), one candidate with expertise in Latin language and literature and another with expertise in ancient Greek language and literature, to teach undergraduate Greek and/or Latin language, Roman and/or Greek literature, Greek Mythology, and topic courses. The anticipated full load will be seven courses distributed across three quarters.

Qualified candidates must have an M.A. or Ph.D. (or ABD status) in Classical Studies or a related field by the time of the appointment and a strong commitment to innovative pedagogy. Proficiency in spoken Latin and/or ancient Greek and demonstrated commitment to teaching Latin and/or ancient Greek with an active approach are preferred. The successful candidates are expected to design their own teaching materials, develop classroom activities, and hold regular office hours.

These are one-year limited-term positions with the possibility of renewal for the 2026-27 academic year depending on sectional need. Salary is commensurate with level of education and experience.
