January 2015. The Board voted to add the Society’s name to the list of supporters of Les États généraux de l'Antiquité, a meeting taking place in February 2015 to discuss the place of ancient studies in the modern world. Past President Jenny Strauss Clay had agreed to represent the SCS at the meeting.
June 2015. The Board voted to endorse a statement developed by the American Historical Association and also endorsed by other members of the American Council of Learned Societies expressing concern about proposals pending in the Wisconsin legislature that threatened to undermine several longstanding features of the state’s current higher education system, in particular shared governance, tenure, and academic freedom.
